A speech by Cathal Goulding at a commemoration for the Edentubber martyrs in 65- from the United Irishman.
Goulding shows singular insight into the complications of the struggle at the time. Republicans today should heed well the opening paragraphs, as well as his conclusion: "There is a tragic dignity in the status of a slave. . .are we to exchange (it) for the contemptible one of bums and bag carriers?"
